course description
Taking a sociological approach to the history of Black people is necessary. A sociological lens allows us to decenter whiteness and center the history of Blackness and Black people in the United States. Historically, our journeys have primarily been told from a white perspective; to combat this, FTBK Academy incorporates teachings on Black history beginning with pre-enslavement period from an Intersectional, Black Feminist, and Critical Race Theory approach.
